Breathwork & Emotional Healing Therapy

Do you feel stuck in life? Or feel that life happens to you rather than being able to create a life you have imagined?

Do you struggle in your relationships? Feel constantly triggered, overwhelmed or irritable?

These are often signs of emotional suppression. Emotions and trauma don’t just disappear—they leave their mark on the body, showing up as muscle tension, pain, or poor posture. Our bodies have an incredible way of holding onto memories and emotions, long after our minds forget. Your breath holds the key to transform limiting behaviours and beliefs into conscious new patterns.

Everyone’s breath holds the blueprint of their lived experiences, containing all our thoughts, pains, memories, feelings and emotional energies.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we will ever do.”

- Brene Brown

Breathwork therapist and emotional healing specialist — Alisa Craig, helps guide women to heal their emotional wounds, reclaim their true selves and  feel  better.

With warmth and compassion, Alisa's unique approach uses the power of the conscious, connected breathwork technique (CCB), alongside emotional regulation techniques and tools. This blend allows women to process and let go of deeply held emotional stress and trauma, create more capacity in their nervous systems and ultimately feel regulated and safe in their bodies.

What is Breathwork?

We all breathe, yet how we breathe is vastly different. Everyone has a different breathing pattern that reflects the experiences they have lived through. The unconsciously altered breath allows you to survive, but it does not allow you to thrive. The main task of breathwork is to help people re-discover who they are underneath all the conditioning and learned behaviours.

Many practices use the term ‘Breathwork’, including yoga breathing (pranayama), box breathing, coherence breathing and more. Breathwork is an umbrella term used to describe practices that include conscious, connected breathing techniques. Ultimately breathwork means working with the breath.

Therapeutic Breathwork is a conscious, connected body/breath technique that allows a number of internal experiences to occur. Thoughts, feelings, pains, memories and energies that have been held down by the breath are able to surface to be cleared or resolved. The process is freeing of limitations from previous decisions, beliefs or conditions.

Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts.
— Thich Nhat Hanh

How does Breathwork, “work”?

Breathwork is a gentle rhythmic and continuous breathing technique that taps directly into the body’s innate healing intelligence.

Breathing in a full, flowing cycle has a powerful impact on both the body and mind. Because the connected breath leads us into a non-ordinary state of consciousness where our awareness expands, old patterns and suppressed emotions surface. This allows them to be processed safely, creating space for inner clarity, relaxation, and ultimately increasing energy and joy back into your life.

From a physiological view the breath balances the autonomic nervous system, increases Heart Rate Variability (HRV), oxygenates the blood and shifts brain activity to more alpha waves, promoting calm and focus. It also boosts activity in key brain areas like the prefrontal cortex and hypothalamus, which regulate decision-making and emotions.

Each breathwork session follows a similar structure.

  • Connect and talk about where and what you are experiencing in life right now

  • Breathing exercise or embodied process to tune into the body and create safety

  • Set an intention for how you would prefer to feel in life

  • Breathwork session where you breathe for up to an hour using a particular breathing technique, here we focus on the breath, let go of the mind and connect to the body’s infinite wisdom (don’t worry, Alisa will guide you each step of the way).

  • De-briefing your experience and discuss any insights and understandings that may have come to light for you. This often includes practical strategies to try at home.
